The Digital Bits is reporting that Universal has officially announced that Dune: Extended Edition will be released on DVD on 01/31/2006. It will be a 2-disc set and will contain the original theatrical version (137 minutes) and an all-new extended version (177 minutes), both in anamorphic widescreen video, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. According to Queen Online, Brian May, and The Digital Bits, a Silver Anniversary Edition DVD of Flash Gordon will be released in the UK on October 10, 2005. Previously, I complained that Universal had delayed the new Dune DVD release indefinitely. According to this and this from The Digital Bits, the DVD has been delayed because David Lynch wants to create a new Director's Cut to replace the Extended Edition that has been shown on TV for years.
